Lyric Soprano Rebecca Peterson is recognized throughout the Pacific Northwest for her "stunning" and "incredible" performances (Marie Bonfils, Drama in the Hood; Brian Minnick, @BacktoBaroque) of opera, concert, and musical theatre. A Seattle native, she has concertized extensively in Washington and California, appearing repeatedly with the Seattle Opera Guild, the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle, and Puget Sound Concert Opera, among many others.
She was most recently seen in Die Zauberflöte (Erste Dame) with the German Vocal Arts Institute; Norma (Clotilde, Norma cover) with Skagit Opera; and Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira) with TSOW in Toronto. She has been heard in concert excerpts of Le nozze di Figaro (Countess Almaviva) with the Seattle Opera Guild and Die Fledermaus (Rosalinde) while an Advanced Artist with OperaWorks in Los Angles. Her signature roles include the title roles in Carlilse Floyd’s Susannah and Donizetti’s Anna Bolena; Mimì in La bohème, Micaëla in Carmen, and the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro. She also covered the title role in Anna Bolena with Puget Sound Concert Opera. Recent full roles include Sarah Brown in Guys & Dolls and Jenifer in A … My Name is Alice, both with Twelfth Night Productions. She has
also appeared as Dorinda in a concert version of Handel’s Orlando with the Opera Siena Music Festival in Italy.
In November 2016, she was honored to perform in concert masterclass for soprano Deborah Voigt at the Southern Oregon University Recital Hall in Ashland, Oregon.
In September 2017, she was named a semi-finalist in The American Prize for Opera: the Friedrich and Virginia Schorr Memorial Award in Voice.
A huge fan of presenting opera to new audiences, Peterson also frequently performs for variety shows with Sparkle Leigh and Sister Leigh Love Productions as well as comedian Jeffrey Robert in his quarterly show, West Side Glory. Please check the Engagements page often for upcoming performances.
Ms. Peterson’s musical theater credits include Smitty (How to Succeed in Business...), Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls), Sheridan/Sister/Young Girl/Jenifer (A...My Name is Alice), and Helena Landless (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), among many others. She has toured nationally with Missoula Children’s Theater in The Princess and the Pea.
She is a semi-finalist in The American Prize for Opera; a recipient of the Helen Jensen Memorial Award in Voice; and an alumna of the of OperaWorks Advanced Artist Program. A classically trained bassist, Ms. Peterson earned her BA in Music and Jazz Studies minor from Washington State University.
